About Joanna

Joanna Teljeur self portrait in ink & watercolour
Joanna Teljeur sketch of a Scottish Terrier and a frog.

A graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in Dramatic Art, Joanna has spent fifteen years lending her voice to fiction, biography, non-fiction, and everything in between, but children's literature is where she is most completely herself.

She came to audiobook narration in 2017, building on a foundation in professional voice work that began in 2010, and that theatrical background lives in every recording she makes.

Her artwork and illustrations have the same feel as her narration. It's whimsical, warm, and rooted in the belief that beauty and nature have the power to transform the soul.

She paints and illustrates for the part of us that still stops in its tracks for a beetle crossing the path, a mushroom circle in the moss, or the sound of a stream running cold and clear through the trees.

Something of her very own is quietly taking shape (a written and illustrated children's book that is very nearly ready to meet the world). It's the kind of thing worth waiting for. :)

We are never very far from wonder. Just sometimes we need someone to point the way back.

Watercolour painting and ink by Joanna Teljeur

Joanna is a voice artist (narrator), illustrator, and writer who lives in the wild, beautiful landscape of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

She loves it. The forest meets the ocean, and wonder has a way of finding you whether you're looking for it or not.
